Today, the Commission has introduced new legislation aimed at improving the collaboration between data protection authorities (DPAs) in the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in cross-border situations. This proposed regulation will establish specific procedural guidelines for DPAs when dealing with cases involving individuals in multiple EU Member States. Doing so seeks to minimize disagreements and foster consensus among the authorities from the early stages of the process. This proposal is meant to provide individuals with greater clarity on the necessary requirements for filing a complaint and make sure they participate throughout the procedure. Similarly, businesses will benefit from clearer guidelines outlining their rights during DPA investigations into potential GDPR breaches. Consequently, these rules will lead to faster resolution of cases, resulting in expedited remedies for individuals and increased legal certainty for businesses. Furthermore, data protection authorities will experience improved cooperation and enhanced efficiency in their enforcement efforts through the implementation of these new regulations. #gdpr #collaboration #EPDB #dataprotection
